SA Life Academy is a year-round day program for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities that have aged out of the public school system. This program provides exceptional learning opportunities and stimulating activities aimed at helping individuals with IDD live full and active lives in a safe environment. Weekly activities include relationship building, art, health and wellness, recreational therapy, 5-6 hours of volunteer work in the community, and life and job skill training. SA Life Academy differentiates itself from existing programs through a curriculum designed and facilitated by certified Special Education teachers with low staff-to-adult ratios (1:6). The daily activities the teachers put together allows these individuals to further their personal development in a social setting, give back to their community, and discover who they want to be outside of the program.
I got involved with SA Life Academy when I volunteered for their Big Reach Gala in 2019 and got to witness first hand how impactful this organization is for the students and their families. This year, they had to cancel their big fundraising gala due to covid and are anticipating a significant shortfall as a result. In an effort to help support this amazing program so they can continue to offer stimulating and educational classes, I have decided to donate a portion of my commission every time I help someone buy or sell a home to SA Life Academy through the end of the year.
